Happy Company
A S the J. C. Williamson company of Savoyards makes its triumphal pro gress through the North Island with its repertoire of Gilbert and Sullivan operas, one of the features that impress playgoers is the bonhomie between the members of the company. They represent many phases of life, yet all are imbued with a love for the collaborators that is mutual, and to the theatre-goer, entirely satisfactory. They are a happy family, this cheerful party of singers and mummers, who make of every piece in which they appear a delightful occasion. Many people are going again and again to hear the impudent satire and the music that has been in the hearts of G. and S. devotees for more years than they can remember. Ivan Menzies, Evelyn Gardiner, Winifred Lawson, Bernard Manning, Richard Watson, Gregory Stroud, Godfrey Stirling, Eileen Kelly, Helen Langton, Clifford Cowley, and the rest are charming people to meet.
