■RING CROSBY, who plays a stowaway aboard an ocean liner in Paramount’s “Anything Goes,” once started to run away to sea from his home in Spokane, but got hungry as darkness fell and went back to dinner. Claudette Colbert, now appearing in Paramount’s “The Bride Comes Home,” believes that Hollywood’s major studios should sponsor the little theatre movement in order to find new talent. Harold Lloyd, now working in Paramount’s “The Milky Way,” is an adept at “magic” parlour tricks and belongs to the American Society of Magicians. Alan Mowbray, who plays a leading role in the Marlene Dietrich-Gary Cooper film, “Desire,” at Paramount, has appeared in 60 pictures in the last four years. A fourth language was added, in the songs of Jan Kiepurafor “Give Us This Night” when the singer recently recorded his numbers in Italian. Kiepura’s songs will also be done in English, Spanish and French in order to make them intelligible to a world audience.

In order to get a chorus job in pictures, a girl should first learn to dance and then colour her hair to match her personality, according to one of Hollywood’s best-known dance directors. A girl with red hair, he says, has a three to one chance over a brunette of getting a job, and a brunette has almost a 10 to one chance over a blonde.
