Large Increase In Exports IMPORTS HIGHER Figures For February Compared Exports last month were valued in New Zealand currency at the substantial figure of £5,251,320. an increase of nearly £BOO,OOO compared with those for February, 1935. The increase was largely due to the higher values and greatly-increased exports of wool and also to higher prices for butter compared with those of a year s ago ‘ ’ Imports, still on the increase, were valued last month at £2,980,481. an improvement of £557.000 compared with those for February, 1935, and an increase of over £1,000,000, compared with those for February, 1934. The position is shown in the following comparative table for the month of February in each year stated:—

For the two. months to February 29 exports were valued in New Zealand currency at £11.349.601, an increase of £1,820,000 compared with those for the first two months of lasi year and slightly in advance of those for the corresponding period of 1934. Imports for the last two months were valued in New Zealand currency ut £6.583.748. an increase of £527.000 compared with those for the corresponding period of last year, ami an advance of £1,779.000 compared with those for the first two months of 1934.
