British Interests Not Materially Affected

Rugby, February 4.
In reply to questions in the House of Commons on the situation in North China, the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, gave a brief account of recent dvents, and added:
“So far as I am aware, British interests iu North China have not been materially affected by these developments. Meanwhile the Japanese Government is reported to have accepted an invitation from the Chinese Government to discuss outstanding questions between the two countries, and there is reason to hope that an effort will be made to regularise the position through diplomatic channels.”
