Undergrad’s Name Struck Off Register

An Oxford undergraduate, whose name was removed from the register of Pembroke College at the request of his father—who disagreed with his intended wedding—was married recently at Oxford register office, says the “Daily Mail.” i He is Mr. Harold E. C. Thwaite, the 21-years-old sou of Dr. Harold Thwaite, of Edgbaston Road, Birmingham, and the bride is Miss Mildred A. Spooner, Parrett, aged 18, of Pembroke Street, St. Aidgate's, Oxford.

It is understood that Mr. Thwaite inherited a considerable sum of money under the will of a great-uncle when he became 21 a few weeks ago. Tiie bride’s mother, Mrs. Coggins, said that Mr. Thwaite had told his father that “he would prefer to have Mildred to all the money in the world.” “Dr. Thwaite wanted everything to eml, and we had an interview at which the doctor and tlie young couple were present. There is a big difference in their social positions. “Dr. Thwaite asked for the wedding to be delayed, but Edward was so much in love with my daughter that he insisted on an early marriage.

“I gave permission for Mildred to marry and was present at the ceremony. They' will probably make a home for themselves at Oxford.”
