TYPHOID SUSPECTS

Maori Family Sent To Hospital MEDICAL OBSERVATION Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 19. .Suspected of being carriers of typhoid fever, which has been dormant in the district for a. long period, three Maoris from the Poroutawhao Pa have been admitted to the Palmerston North Public Hospital for observation. Commenting on the ease, the health inspector for the district, Mr. IV. J. Guinan, said there was not the slightest need for alarm, as it was an isolated outbreak and confined to one family. Proper control had been observed and he was remaining in close touch with the family. The hospital authorities reported today that it was very doubtful whether two of the cases bad actually contracted the disease, but the third, a woman, was suspected as a carrier. Conclusive information would not be available for some days.
