Indian Cricket Success ENTHUSIASM AT RESULT (Received January 14, 1.10 a.m.) Lahore, January 13. All India defeated Mr. F, Tarrant’s Australian team by 68 runs. It was India’s first big victory for a considerable time, and the result was greeted with great enthusiasm. All India made 149 and 301 (Baqajilani 25, Banerji 70, Wazir All 92; Leather five for 102, Nagel two for 50). Tarrant’s team made 166 and 216 (Morrisby 35, Ryder 70, Oxenham 30; Nissar four wickets for 80, Salauddin one for 18, Baqajilani four for 16, Amirelahi one for 55). CENTURY TO McCABE Australians in Africa (Received January 14, 1.10 a.m.) East London, January 13. In their match against Border the Australians at lunch to-day had lost three wickets for 209 runs. Rain stopped play at 3.15 p.m. in the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and South Australia. In their first innings, South Australia made 340 (Ryan 144; Gilbert five wickets for 87, Wyeth three for 101). Queensland, w’ho in their first inings made 205, have lost one wicket for 24 in their second innings. MAORILAND TEAM IN FIJI Suva, January 13. The New Zealand Maorlland cricket team played a week-end match against Northern Districts, who made 103 (McCaig 40, Mosese 32). The visitors made 153 (Walter 40). In the second innings Northern Districts made 138 and the visitors 63 for five wickets. The match was drawn. The team will return to Suva today for the final Test against All Fiji. The match, which will last three days, is to commence to-morrow.
