“Not to be Crucified”

By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, January 13. Replying to a deputation from the Nelson Provincial Tobacco Growers’ Association, the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, said that the Government was not going to allow the New Zealand tobacco industry to be crucified. He considered it was treason to allow industries to perish and then send the Dominion’s money to other countries. The Government would also see that an evenly-balanced board was appointed and would go into the matter ot placing the New Zealand tobacco industry on its feet.
