Since his first entry into' local senior cricket in November, 1926. W. T. A ie I ’- meyer has hardly fulfilled the promise he showed in . that, bis first season. In his initial match, for University against Midland. .he took five wickets for 50 runs in the first innings, and three for 31 iu the second. He followed this up with five tor 2o ant one for 35 V. Thorndon in the next match, finishing the season with 16 wickets at an average of 27 each. He played with University throughout the two succeeding seasons, 'but with nothing like this success, and then after a break of four seasons, lie has been a regular member of the side since 1933. This season he appears to have recovered his bowling form, and, opening with five for 32 v. Kilbirnie, lie has now taken altogether this season It wickets for 138 runs. Hie total bowling figures in senior cricket are 63 wickets for 1627 runs, at: average of 25.82. Tietmeyer also has capabilities- as a batsman, and in 1927-2 S he scored 79 not out against Old Boys,- during the course of which he aided R. 11. C.. McKenzie (149) to add 145 for the last wmket. His next highest score was one of t>s not out the following season, until his 61 m the present match. Altogether he has batted 54 times with 21 time.s not out. for a total of iO6 ruuj. an average of 21.39. D. McCawo. This batsman made his first appearance in local senior cricket in the final mate i of the 1933-34 season, when playing tor Midland against University, he scored 31 not out (when Midland were trying to beat University’s 261, but finished with 222), and G. Last season McCawe was a regular member of the Midland side and, with 52 v. Petone as'his best score, he totalled 244 runs, at an average of 24. This season he has revealed improved form, and scored 63 v. Kilbirire a few weeks back, and now has just billed to score his first century. In all McCawe has batted 20 times, being 4 times not out, for a total of 485 runs, which gives au excellent average of 30.31.
