Accident to Railway Employee

FALL IN FRONT OF TRUCK

By Telegraph—Press Christchurch, January 13. Slipping ou part of a cattle stop made greasy by misty rain, Patrick O'Callaghan, a railway employee at the Springfield railway station, fell m front of a number of trucks which were being shunted in the yard this evening, and the wheels of one truck passed over one of his legs, just below the knee, and practically severed it. Mr. O’Callaghan had been riding on one of the trucks while shunting, and slipped off on to a board alongside the cattle stop. He failed to gain a foothold, ami fell, one leg lying across the track. After medical attention on the spot lie was -brought to the Christchureli Hospital.
