Feilding, January 13
The auction sale of stud Southdowns at the annual auction of the Manawatu and West Coast Stud Breeders’ Committee, held to-day, wa.o almost a total failure, only three rams being sold tinier the hammer. The enterprise was redeemed by the number of private saws made afterward, of which the following are reported: Account Jas. Knight, one at 40 gns., one at 30; account A. L. Wheclei, one at 30; account 11. Burrell and Son, one at 25, and at 20. . The reason given for the lack o£ bidding was that the more prominent breeders'’had made many sales privately.
