CHURCH ANNIVERSARY

St. David’s, Petone A decision to hold special service to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, 1 etone, haa been made by the board of managers, according to the annual report of the church presented to the annual, meeting recently. As most of the foundation members have died, difficulty has been experienced in obtaining information regarding the church’s early history, and the managers would be glad if members could furnish anything of interest on the early activities. The letting of the hall for approximately nine months at a rental of £4 a week had to a certain extent helped the church to tide over the economic crisis, says the report of the board of managers. The report of the session' showed that the various organisations of Jhe church were being carried on with great faithfulness and zeal by devoted workers. The great need of to-day in the Church, as well as in other avenues, was for wise and consecrated leadership. There were many who were willing to be led in the way of right, and in the paths of helpful service, but there were not many who were ready to take up the work of leadership, and so great opportunities were lost. The session appreciated the fine service being given by those who led the young people’s work. TEe membership roll was the same as in the previous year, and the young worshippers' league roll comprised some >0 names. „ , , At present there was a roll number ot 115 on the senior Sunday school and SO in the primary department. There were 21 teachers on the staff. The roll numbers of the Bible classes were: Senior young women’s, 21; junior young women’s, 17; junior young men’s, 23. The board of managers was re-elected with the addition of Messrs. V. Edwards and K. Loan. .
