America Now Leading
(Received August 30. 9.45 p.m.) Warsaw, August 30. At the end of the seventeenth round of the international chess championship the United States is leading with 46 points, followed by Poland 45 and Sweden 44}. The British Empire occupies tenth place. In the women’s championship Mdlle. Vera Menchick (Czechoslovakia) is lead’ng with 8 points, Mdlle. Harum (Austria) has 5, Mddle. Gerlecka (Poland) and Mdlle. Olga Menchick 4, Mrs. Holloway (Britain) 3}, Mdlle. Thierry (Denmark) 3, Mdlle. Herman 2} Mdlle, Skjoensberg 2, Mdlle. Kowalska 1, and Mrs. Shannon (Irish Free State) }.
