Prices at Masterton Masterton, August 29. There was a keen demand for sheep and cattle at the weekly Masterton sale yesterday, but the inquiry for horses was limited, and a good proportion of the entry failed to meet the vendors’ expectations. Quite a few lots, however, were disposed of privately after the sale. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., suomitted a good yarding of sheep, cattle and horses to a large attendance of buyers, effecting practically a total clearance at the following pricees:— Sheep: Fat wethers. 23/- to 24/3; fat ewes, 15/-, 16/- to 16/3; store ewee to 11/9; forward wethers, 21/9 to 22/1; woolly w.f. wether hoggets, 17/8, ISA. 18/6, 19/3 to 19/6 ; -wether hoggets, 16/3 to 17/4; small hoggets, 13/9 to 14/-; b.f. hoggets,. 17/6 to 18/9; small b.f. hoggets to 14/9; good ewe hoggets to 24/3; fat Southdown ewes to 15/-; fat Southdown hoggets to 20/3. Cattle: Fat cows to £6/5/-; cull cows, 15/- to 17/6. Horses: Horses broken to lead, £2B to £32; draught geldings, £32/10/- to £4O; spring carters. £l3/2/6 to £l7/10/-; hacks, £9 to £l2/10/-. Ashhurst Heifer Fair At Ashhurst on Tuesday Dalgcty and Company. Limited, held a special heifer fair, when about 120 good springing heifers were yarded. There was a highly successful sale at prices considerably in advance of recent sales. A small yarding of dairy cows also met quite a good sale. Prices were:— Well-grown, good-condition heifers, £5 to £6 ; medum heifers, £3/15/- to £4/15/-; later and low-condition sorts, £2/10/- to £3/10/-; dairy cows in milk. £3/5/- to £4; dairy cows, springing. £3/2/6 to £3 17/6. Eketahuna Sale Masterton, August 29. Pigs were in good demand at the week-' ly Eketahuna sale to-day, but dairy stock was neglected. Dalgetys offered a fair yarding to’a moderate attendance, realising the following values : — Pigs: Weaners, to 21/-. Cattle: Springing heifers, to £4/2/6; heifers in milk, to £2/12/6: cows in milk, £2/10/- to £3; late calvers, £l/5/-.
