BRIDE HURT IN SMASH
Car Strikes Power Pole pv ’i. '.ifi'i. —Press Association. Nelson, August 27. Following their marriage at the Nelson Cathedral last evening Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Linney-Barber, on their way to Belgrove at 11.30 o’clock, had the misfortune to meet with an accident in Waimea Hoad. The car, driven by the bridegroom, collided with an electric power pole outside the Nelson Hospital after swerving across to the wrong side of the road in trying to avoid a cyclist. The bride, who was Miss Adele p. St. John, suffered shock and was injured about the face. The bridegroom escaped injury. Both returned to Nelson. The car was badly damaged by the impact, which pushed the post over to a precarious angle, snapping the power lines and affecting the street lighting in the vicinity. The noise of the crash attracted the attention of nurses at the Nelson Hospital, and they were quickly on the scene to render assistance.
