LEAGUE OF NATIONS
Conference of Dominion Union Opens
The annual conference of the New Zealand League of Nations Union opened at Wellington yesterday, and will be continued to-day. The Dominion president, Rev. F. H. Wilkinson, is presiding. Conference decided to send a loyal greeting to the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, who has taken up his office since the last conference of the union. Greetings were also extended to the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes. ’
Remits carried during the day included the following:— “In view of the approaching general election, Otago asks the Dominion Council to draw up a questionnaire on the League of Nations, to be put to all political candidates throughout the constituencies.” (Dunedin.)
The following remit was introduced and will be further considered today:—
"That the conference expresses its concern at the dissatisfaction with tne conditions of Western Samoa reflected in report of the 26th session of the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations, and urges the Government to give the fullest consideration to the suggestion of. the cbmmission for the future administration of the mandate.” (Christchu.reh.)
