During the week the dredge passed through a section of the claim which contained very rough ground and which had previously been worked. The company has also issued the .following report for the four weeks from July 14 to August 10. —Total gold won. 120 oz. 17dwt.; total time worked, 483 hours; total non-working time. 93 hours; total yardage treated, 28,370, an average of 58.7 cubic yards per hour; average value of ground (on basis of gold worth £4 per ounce), 4d. per cubic yard.

Fruit Export Control Board

Notice that it has taken over complete control of the export of fruit from the Dominion as from August 1 has been given bytbe New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board. It is stated officially that the step taken by the board involves no practical change in its operations. In the past the board has exercised partial control only, but, in practice, al] exports have been made through the board for about eight years. The formal step now taken is designed to promote a better working basis. The order covers all markets for New Zealand fruit.
