Further Names Yet to be Announced

Co far 173 candidates have announced their intention of contesting the 80 seats in the House of Representatives at the general election this year. This number is likely to be increased considerably, for party lists are as yet incomplete. Thirteen Democrats have already indicated that they will seek election. At the last poll, held in 1931, there were 203 candidates, including 14 for the four Maori seats. In several of the electorates there will be three or more candidates seeking the suffrage of the people.
