Missing Lower Hutt Woman

Palmerston North. July 25.

The body of Airs. Philomena Agatha Barrett, aged 54 years. Lower Hutt, who had been missing from Palmerston North since June 15, was found on the bed of (he Alanawatn River this morning. Tlie body was in a fairly bad stale of decomposition. Airs. Barrett had been staying with relatives at. Aokautere and was last seen alive in the Square on June 15. The discovery of the body was made about 11.30 a.m. by Air. Keeble, Fitzherbert AVest, who with one of his men was inspecting the river for logs. The body appeared as though il bad been in the water for several days, and it is surmised it was carried down stream in the last fresh about a week ago. It was clothed only in a singlet and stockings, other clothing being found lower down the river by tiro police. Airs. Barrett’s brother idemilied Hie body by the clothing and jewellery.
