LONDON AIR DEFENCE
Lessons of Exercises
(British Official Wireless.)
Rugby, July 24.
An official communique on last night's air exercises issued from the Air Ministry shows that London is not so vulnerable as unofficial comment had led many to think. The fighters can be said to have inflicted very heavy casualties among the attacking force. Last evening eight squadrons of bombers carried out raids and only one full squadron completely evaded the defending fighters. During the night phase 30 raids were carried out and 11 of these were intercepted. In the early morning a concentrated attack on London targets was made by eight squadrons, and seven of them were intercepted.
