JUBILEE CHOIR
The first, charity concert of the Jubilee Choir for the 1935 season will be given in
the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall this evening, in aid of the St. Joseph’s Orphanage, Upper Hutt. For some time now this talented combination, whose work is solely for charity, has been hard at work on an entirely new programme, and it is confidently anticipated that tonight’s performance will be one which will live long in the memory of those present. Among the numbers to be performed by the choir are such beautiful works as “AVho Rides for the King?’ by lieglnald Summerville. “The Beleaguered,” by Arthur S. Sullivan, an unusual setting uf "The Lass with the Delicate Air.” arranged by F. A. Challinor, “It's Oh! tu he a AVild AVind.” by Edward Elgar, and "Daybreak,” by Alfred R. Paul. The choir on this occasion has the assistance of such pleasing soloists as Miss Teresa McEnroe (soprano), Mrs. Wilfred Andrews (contralto), and Air. Stanley Rodger (baritone), and altogether the programme is a most: attractive one. The object, for which this concert is being given is one which must appeal to all. Tlie St:. Joseph's Orphanage has no fixed annual income or endowments, and depends for its support, upon public benefactions. Tile choir is under the eonductorship of Mr. Frank J. Oakes, and Air. Alax-well Fernie is accompanist. Tlie box plan is at: tlie D.I.C.
