CRICKET FAREWELL

Wellington’s All Blacks Four members of the New Zealand Rugby football team, which will leave for Great Britain next week—Messrs. E. W. Tindill, J. R. Page, J. L. Griffiths and B. S. Sadler —were farewelled at the Grand Hotel yesterday afternoon. The gathering was arranged by the Wellington Cricket Association as a send-off to Mr. E. W. Tindill, who for the past two seasons has been a member of the Wellington representative cricket team. Among those present were officials and members of the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association and officials and members of cricket, and Rugby clubs. Mr. P. B. Broad, chairman of the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association, in handing to Mr. Tindill a travelling rug, referred to his prowess as a cricketer, and felt sure that he would return from England in time to take his place in the New Zealand cricket team for the second match against the English team, and then gain a place in the New Zealand cricket team which was to tour England in 1937. They wished the four All Blacks the best of success on their tour of Great Britain. Tributes to the guests of honour were also paid by Messrs. M. F. Luckie and C. G. Wilson (vice-presidents of the Wellington Cricket Association) and Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union.

The health of the All Blacks was honoured, after which they all briefly responded to the good wishes which had been voiced.
