yir, I feel I cannot accept the somewhat’flattering tribute paid to me in Hie reported speech of Mr. D. V. Bryant regarding the donation of £10,0(H) by the Auckland Savings Bank to tlie Waikato I,and Settlement Society. At that time I was manager of . the Auckland Savings Bank, and tlie deusion was a matter for the hoard of trustees of the bank. Mr. Bryant's kind reference to me was. 1 think, intended to refer to the interesting discussions we have had together regarding the practical side of the scheme. fTlie enthusiasm and guidance of the founder and a well-chosen board of honorary directors are responsible for the excellent results achieved.—l am, etc., T.
