“SOAP” IN CABINET

Found to be Gelignite By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, June 20. Several pieces of gelignite which are believed to have been left by thieves who broke into the premises recently and forced the safe with an explosive were found in a filing cabinet at Hay’s, Ltd., by a member of the staff to-day. The explosive was not at first recognised as gelignite, and the finder of it, thinking it was soap, told Mr. J. L. Hay, who ordered it to be thrown away. Another member of the staff later recognised the “soap” for what it was, and a. call was sent to the police to take it away.
