Rhodes—Davis The marriage was solemnised recently at St. Matthew’s Church, South Grafton; New South. Wales, of Leslie Ernest Roy, youngest son of the late Mr. W. Bhodes and Mre. S. A. Bhodes, and Ellen Mary, only daughter of Captain and Mrs. R. Davis, Heretaunga. The Rev. Canon Dutton performed the ceremony. • The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a simply-cut dress of misty pink angelskin lace, with long straight sleeves and cowl neckline. Her picture hat, which was of the same shade, was trimmed with pink ribbon, and she carried a sheaf of pink carnations and roses. } Miss Doris Booke was bridesmaid,; wearing a leaf-green crepe frock. She carried a sheaf of autumn flowers. Mr. W. H. Rooke was best man. Mrs. Davis’ received her guests at a reception held at the residence of Mrs. C. Clarke. She wore a frock of marine blue georgette, and lace, with hat to tone, and carried a posy of red roses. She was assisted by Mrs; S. A. Rhodes, who was wearing a brown ensemble and-carried & posy of autumn flowers. ■ Mr. and Mrs. L. Rhodes left by car for Brisbane, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride travelled in an assam tailored costume and hat to match. ♦* • ♦ Dowsett—Trott The wedding was solemnised recently at Christ Church, Wanganui, of Gwendoline Beatrice, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Trott, and Victor, only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Dowsett, Wanganui. The service, which was fully choral, was conducted by Archdeacon J. R. Young. Miss Doris Dowsett presided at the organ. The solo “My. Prayer was sung by Mr. E. J. Thomas, uncle of the bridegroom.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a shimmering gown of silver tinsel lame, cut on the bias with a square cowl neck fastened with diamante clasps at each side and long Russian sleeves to form points over the hands. The back was fastened with tiny buttons from the neckline. and a plated girdle of silver lame, ending with. silver tassels, encircled the waist. Her veil was worn over the face and arranged from a Russian tiara of pearls. A sheaf bouquet of helibores, roses and camellias was carried. Two silver horse-shoes were presented’ to the bride as she was leaving the church, by Miss Olive Dowsett and Miss Shirley Hawke. The bridesmaids, Miss Rae Bond and Miss Brenda Bond, wore trained frocks of Margaret Rose lace with insets of silver lame. Long silver Russian girdles, silver halo hats and silver shoes were also worn, and they carried bouquets of pink roses. Mr. Stan. Trott was best man, and Mr. L. Cox groomsman. Messrs. J. Duffy, R. Shaw and O. Howe (Wellington) acted as ushers. About 120 guests were entertained at the Rendezvous where the rooms and tables were effectively decorated to tone with the frocking of the bridal party. The guests were received by Mrs. G. H. Trott, who was wearing, a frock of forest green georgette and lace with grey fur, and green shoes and hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of roses, and Mrs. E. A. Dowsett, wearing black marquisette dress, with hat and shoes to tone. She carried a violet bouquet.

The bride’s travelling dress was a rust brown metal thread tweed tunic suit trimmed with fox fur, a velour hat. suede shoes and a crocodile hand--bag. RED CROSS BALL Arrangements for the Red Cross Ball, to be held in the Town Hall, Wellington, in August, are now well in hand, according to the report presented at a meeting of a committee set up by the Red Cross Society. The ball will be a plain and fancy dress one. The supper committee stated that firms in the city had given a generous response to requests for gifts and it appeared likely that ample provision could be made for the large attendance expected. The Town Hall will be decorated in a distinctive style for the ball and a supply of paper lanterns and imitation palms is being prepared. A feature of the ball will be a number of ballets, and Miss Nancy Rabe has undertaken to arrange these. The invitation committee is busy preparing lists, as attendance at ttje ball will be by invitation only. Captain Preston, of the Legion of Frontiersmen, was present at the meeting and intimated that the Legion would be glad to co-operate with the society in every way possible.
