YESTERDAY’S GALLOPS

Some Riding Engagements Dominion Special Service. Auckland, June 2. There was not a great deal of work at Ellerslie this morning, most of the horses having had their final gallops yesterday. The No. 2 grass was available for galloping. The best effort was half a mile by Orac and Lionheart, who ran four furlongs with little between them in 52 2-5. Solanio and Valpai, two late arrivals, were among those to do useful work and both look exceptionally well.. In fact, it is doubtful whether Solanio has ever been better than at present. The South Island horse Rebel .Chief has made a very favourable impression by his pleasing track efforts since arrival. He goes attractively and will disappoint if he fails to race prominently in his engagements at the meeting. He appears to be in his element in the heavy going. Riding engagements are as follow: — H.
