LOW PRODUCTION
Dairy Season Prospect RAIN NEEDED SOON Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, February 15. The Dean of Dairying, Professor W. Riddet, reported to yesterday’s meeting of the Massey Agricultural College council that if the country did not get rain within the new few weeks it could not expect to reach for the remainder of the season the level of production of the past two years. Professor Riddet said that production was likely to be less than normal unless a good autumn or a mild winter prevailed. It was gratifying to record, however, that the reduction in the butter output and the immediate prospect of reduced production had raised the price level of New Zealand butter to a considerable extent when compared with last year. RAIN AT LEVIN Levin, February 15. The twenty-five points of rain which fell at Levin last night were followed by 120 further points between 9 n.m. and noon to-day. This reduced the temperature by practically 10 degrees. Practically no rain has fallen since noon to-day and the sky is clearing.
