PRODUCTION OF OIL FROM COAL
Big Output Expected From British Plant (Received February 13, 7 p.m.) London, February 13. The “Daily Herald” says that by midsummer the Imperial Chemical Industries petrol plant will be producing oil from coal at the rate of 30,000,000 gallons a year at Billingham-on-Tees, the new industrial township on which the company has expended £25,000,000. The Government has guaranteed tax preference of fourpence a gallon as against imported petrol and it is stated that the production price i s under sevenpence a gallon.
