SUN SPOTS OBSERVED
Unusually Rapid Growth New sun spots have been observed by Air. G. V. Hudson, of Karori. He said last night that a new moderate sun, spot and several smaller ones, of the vorticose type and covering an area of fully 80,000 by 40,000 miles, had appeared in the northern hemisphere of the sun west of the centraj meridian. An examination of the same region of the sun on Tuesday afternoon, he said, failed to reveal any trace of the spots, although one small spot was visible in the southern hemisphere. It was unusual for a group of that size to form with such rapidity.
