Consular Corps’ Farewell
In view of his approaching departure for Johannesburg, the Chinese Consul, Mr. Chuuhow 11. Pao, was presented with a beautiful carved wooden Maori box by the Consular Corps on Monday. Those present included Air. A. Bucklin, Consul-General for the United States of America and Dean of the Consular Corps; Mr. G. Formichella, Consul for Italy; Mr, A. Nihotte, Consul for Belgium; Mr. AV. Penseler, Consul for Germany ; and Mr. AV. AV. Hoffmann and Mr. AV. AV. Oreibaugh,. vice-Consuls for the United States of America. “I wish to express to you my grateful thanks and deep appreciation for the honour and kindness which you have conferred upon me by giving me this beautiful gift,” said Mr. Pao. “It is a gift which. I will always treasure, and it will serve as a reminder of the very happy days wc spent together in New Zealand. I will never forget the friendship between us, and I hope we will have an opportunity of meeting again. I wish you all prosperity, health, and happiness.”
