New Zealand Legion
Sir, —The New Zealand Legion lias decided to support live candidates for the Wellington Hospital Board, All but one are present members of the board. The legion is als,> supporting five candidates for the Wellington City Council. All are present councillors. With a flourish of trumpets the legion was formed to remedy the existing state of things, yet out of ten local selections nine persons represent the existing state of things in so far as the sphere of local polities is concerned. It seems, therefore, that the legion has decided to support the present state of things, in which case its continued existence is a political redundancy. If. on the other hand, the legion’s two “tickets” represent its much-vaunted campaign to change the present state of things, it is going about the job in a singularly strange manner. —I am, etc.. NO MORE SHILLING. Wellington. February G.
