LANGUAGE PROBLEM
* Interpreters For Athletic Visitors The council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, at its meeting last night, was confronted with the problem of providing interpreters for the two Finnish athletes, Sippalo and Perasalo, who are making a tour of New Zealand in the near future. A letter from the Victorian association was received stating that though the Finns were picking up a smattering of English as they went, it would be necessary for the athletic authorities to make arrangements for interpreters to assist them in their conversational efforts. The secretary, Mr. L. A. Tracy, said that he had written to the Vice-Consul nt Christchurch and others asking them for assistance. They would meet tbo Finnish Consul- at Auckland, also. Mr. W. A. Ingram said he had received information from three residents of Wellington who were willing to give their services as interpreters.
