GOLD RESERVES
Increase Shown in 1934 AMERICA’S BIG GAIN (Received. February 6, 12.14 a.m.) Geneva, February 5. The League reports that the world’s gold reserves, excluding those of Russia, increased by 900,000,000 gold dollars in 1934. The United States showed an increase of 854,000,000 gold dollars, France 203,000,000, South Africa 24,000,000, Japan 20,000,000 and Czechoslovakia 13,000,000. Decreases were shown by Germany 73,000,000, Italy 68,000,000. the Netherlands 33,000,000, Belgium 32,000,000, and Switzerland 18,000,000.
