LOADING EQUIPMENT

Little America Operations AEROPLANES A PROBLEM (Received February 4, 7 p.m.) Little America, February 3. Despite adverse conditions, considerable progress was made in reloading the expedition’s vessels. The second load was successfully carried to the Jacob Ruppert by the Bear of Oakland.

All of importance that remains are the four aeroplanes and certain scientific instruments, notably the magnetic and ' meteorological apparatus, with which observations will be made until the last minute. Removing the aeroplanes is a big problem as the Bear of Oakland is not equipped to handle them. RearAdmiral Byrd said that it’ possible he hoped to berth the Jacob Ruppert. In any event he hopes to depart on February 7.
