NO RETURN TO LEAGUE
German Intimation to Britain ARMS CONVENTION NOT LIKELY By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received February 4, 7 p.m.) London, February 3. The “Observer’s” Paris correspondent says that it is believed that four developments in the last 24 hours have dispelled the possibility of reaching a disarmament convention with Germany. (1) Germany has informed Britain that in uo case will she return to the League. (2) Herr Hitler told the British Ambassador that in view of Russia’s increased army on January 31, Germany’s army of 400,000 is insufficient. (3) The existence of the Russian army is troubling Britain. (4) Poland’s refusal, after the visit of General Goering, to participate in France’s proposed Eastern Pact. A Berlin message states that officials refuse to give an opinion until to-morrow owing to the time required to consider some of the many implications of the Anglo-French communique.
