BEST VAULT WINS SECOND PLACE
By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, February 4. Au unusual result occurred in the pole vault event at the Hawke’s BayPoverty Bay Centre’s amateur athletic championship meeting on Saturday. The highest vault was that of L, Grey (Gisborne), who cleared 10ft. 4in., establishing a new record for the centre, but as this was scored in a test for second place R. Johnston (Napier), 10ft. 3in., having already been declared the winner, Grey had to be content with second position.
