TO CONTEST SEAT
Mr. Winston Churchill’s Son (Received January 20, 11.16 p.iri.) London, January 20. Mr. Winston Churchill's son Randolph, aged 23, is to contest the- byelection for the Wavertree scat made vacant owing to flip elevation of Mr. G. R. Hall-Caine to the peerage. There are already three candidates, Mr. James Flatt (National Conservative), Mr. J. J. Cleary (Labour) and Mr. Artro Morris (Liberal). Mr. R. Churchill is fighting as an independent Conservative. He says that Mr. Platt’s pronouncements do not suggest that he is prepared to defend the vital requirements of Lancashire trade against Indian tariffs. He also criticises the Indian reforms. It is recalled that Mr. Winston Churchill won his first seat at Oldham, another Lancashire constituency, at the age of 25.
