Hughes, of Palmerston North, ni the inal. The men's and women s doubles were both won by Wellington pairs, t-J • Williams and 11. D. Kennedy, and MlsseS W Williams and M. Hollis, lhe mixed ■wijnt to It. Dennis, of Wanganui, aud most of the attacking in the men’s singles final, but Ghcul s play back from the table very safe, iht lat ter made splendid recoveries from this position, and was quick to take advantage of any loose bails. ' , Miss Masters is easily the most improved player in Wellington. Hewchung of placement, effected W(th a sudden, turn of the wrist, kept Miss Hughes guessing all through their match. Miss Hughes won manv points with a speedy forehand drive which later proved very effective i the mixed doubles final, but could uot cope with Miss Masters's steadiness. William® and Kennedy were both well on their game iti the final of the men s doubles against Clrnal and 11, lyle. and as an attacking combination ebaded he r opponents throughout. Misses Williams anil Hollis had no great difficulty in beating Misses B Macgregor and B. Rmvtlt in the women s doubles final, tn the mixed final both Dennis and Miss Hughes dealt effectively with any weak shots put up by Williams and Miss Wi Rams. and both showed power in attack.
