Huge Increase in Teams HUTT VALLEY INTEREST _\ .. (Notes by “Net.”) The interest displayed iu table tennis is growing by leaps and bounds in Wellington, if one can judge by the tremendous increase in the entries for the' inter-club competition. Last year, the association's first year, the number of teams taking part in the various grade competitions was 64, but this year the number of entries has jumped to 103. Formation of Hutt Valley Association. A meeting of those interested in the formation of an association in the Hutt Valley was held recently, and it is confidently expected that this association will be the means of further increasing the interest taken in the game of table tennis in the, Hutt Valley and Petone districts.. Management Committee Meeting. At the first meeting of the management committee, the following sub-com-mittees were appointed :— Inter-club and tournaments, Messrs. H. D. Kennedy, K. B. Longmore. D. Hayvice and H. Krogh; publicity, Mies M. E. Parker, Messrs. IT. Krogh, 11. D. Kennedy nnd T. S. Williams; finance, Messrs. J. Sullivan, M. Power and W. Grady: social, Mies M. F. Parker, Messrs. K. B. Longmore and 11. Krogh; ladder, Messrs. D. Hayvice. W. Grady and J. Sullivan: sole selector, Mr. T. S. Williams. Invitation Tournament. This tournament, which drew_ exceedingly large entries, will be continued ftt the roomp of Mr. T. S. Williams at 4.45 p.m. on Thursday, May 10. Inter-Club Matches. The drat)’ for these matches, which has been held up on account of the formation of the Hutt Valley Table Tennis Association. will be in the hands of club secretaries by Friday next. Rules. I.t i's apparent that a large number of players are not yet familiar with the rules. Club secretaries could help in this matter by posting up n copy of the rules in their club rooms. The most common breaches of the rules will be dealt with in later notes.
