LATE MR. W. P. McGIRR
Funeral Yesterday The esteem in which the late Mr. W. P. MeGirr was held' was indicated by' the large attendance at the funeral yesterday morning. The service at the graveside at Karori cemetery was conducted by the Rev. A. A. Armstrong, the chief mourners being the three sons of deceased— Messrs. D. G., 11. M., and L. W. MeGirr. The pall-bearers were two members of the staff of the Government Printing Office (in which Mr. MeGirr worked for 40 years), two members of the Wellington* Working Men’s Club (of which deceased was a life member), and two members of the Seatoun Bowling Club. Among the many present were old fellow workers in the Government Printing Office, ineluding two former Government Printers, Messrs. Marcus Marks and W. A. G. Skinner. Old cricketing comrades of deceased were present in force, and the Wellington Cricket Association was represented by Messrs. A. F. Wiren and C. G. Wilson (vice-presidents), P. B. Broad (chairman of the management committee), and A. Varney (secretary). Others present included the president of the Wellington Working Men’s Club (Mr. 11. J. Shanks), the president of the Wellington Typographical Union (Mr. C. 11. Chapman, M.P.), president of the Seatoun Bowling Club (Mr. W. L. Page), and the president of the Seatoun Cricket Club (Mr. H. Yeoman).
