Something of a record was created at the recent autumn show, of the Hutt. Valley Horticultural Society. Judging for the show, which was for one day, only, took place: at noon, and before, the exhibition closed all the. prize money, amounting to about £3O, had been paid, amjl a number of medals and trophies with miniatures had been engraved, and presented to the winners. ■ Direction signs and place-names for the guidance of aeroplanes, painted in white letters 20ft. high, are visible at a height of 5000 ft. on a clear day.
