Daffodil bulbs nearly 4000 years old have come to light in Egyptian mummy cases excavated in the Valley of Kings at Luxor, They are of the common Polyanthus Narcissus variety.
Bulb growing and harvesting provides work for nearly 2000 people in Spalding, the centre of. the English tulip trade. About 6000 tons of blooms arc sent out during the season.
