Winter Conditions General The weather in Wellington during the week-end was for the most part dull, overcast, and cold. Both on Saturday and yesterday the wind was from the south, though light, and showers fell intermittently. Yesterday was wet and generally dreary. After heavy showers of rain on Saturday, the weather in Palmerston North on Sunday was overcast and threatening. Conditions were cold. Wintry weather conditions prevailed at Masterton at the week-end. There was a light misty rain from the south on both days, and conditions were unpleasantly cold. Steady rain fell in Wanganui on Saturday from midday onward, but conditions were clear again on Sunday morning. In the afternoon the weather was cloudy and muggy. There was a continuation, of wet weather during the week-end at Auckland. The wind was moderate from the west, and conditions cold and w’intry. Frequent’showers were experienced on Saturday. Yesterday was cloudy and unsettled, with intervals of sunshine. The barometer was rising slowly, and registered 29.83 in. A high south-westerly wind accompanied by heavy rain blew at Christchurch on Saturday. Conditions began to improve late in the afternoon, and by evening the wind had dropped and the rain ceased. The sky remained cloudy and threatening yesterday morning, and light, showers fell in the afternoon. At 5 p.m- the weather gave promise of clearing. The barometer was steady at 29.85 in. Cold and wintry conditions were experienced at Dunedin over the weekend. Rain fell at intervals on Saturday morning, but although the-after-noon was drv, the conditions were overcast and threatening, with a cold south-westerly wind blowing. The maximum temperature for the day was 46 degrees. Yesterday morning a few scattered showers fell, the weather generally being overcast and cold. The maximum temperature was 49 degrees.
