WOMAN KEPT IN BED.
Dame Beatrix Lyall, a member of the London County Council, was “unavoidably prevented 1 ’ from attending n Municipal Reform meeting which she was due to address at North-west Camberwell lately. Iler family had hidden her clothes! Mr. IV. 11. Webbe. the Municipal Reform candidate for the division, told the meeting that Dame Beatrix had been ill in bed, but once she had made up her m’nd to do a thing no bub could dissuade her. He had telephoned her daughter earlier in the day to inquire about Dame Beatrix's health, and Miss Lyall had reported that her mother was not ••merely difficult—she wns impossible!” Dame Beatrix had. Miss Lyall added, made up her mind to speak at the Camberwell meeting, and wns determined to get out of bed arid go there. Her doctor told her not to go; her family told her not to go. but she took no notice of them. “So we took her clothes away nnd hid them.” snid Miss Lyall. (Laughter.)
