BURGLARY STAGED
Attempt to Cover Theft An office boy’s ''staging” of a burglary in an attempt to cover his theft of money from his employers was related in the Children's Court on Saturday morning when he admitted the theft of 17/8. His age was 16. Detective-Sergeant Revell said that each week the boy was handed 2/3 to purchase wuges-tax stamps. For two or three weeks he converted the cash to his own use, and, evidently knowing that he must be found out' ultimately, lie thought- out a scheme. He had a key of the office, and, after the other employees had gone, he went into the office and robbed a cashbox of 17/8. During the investigations by detectives which followed, the youth admitted stealing the money, and “staging" the burglary in the office, throwing away his key and saying that somebody must have found it. It was pointed out to Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., who presided, that the firm had been reimbursed from the boy's wages. Remarking that the youth had been spending money on a girl, from whom he advised him to disassociate himself. Mr. Stilwell admonished him severely and discharged him. He would not receive another chance, he said.
