SHIPPING SERVICE
Inauguration Announced Sydney, May 5. The W. R. Carpenter Co., Ltd., Island merchants, has decided to inaugurate a shipping service between London find Continental ports and New Guinea, via Sydney and other Australian ports. The service begins in August with a 5600-ton vessel, the former Norwegian motor-ship George Washington. Shipping circles regard this as a counter-move to the competition provided by German ships, which now load at isolated Island ports and the Solo mons for direct carriage to the Continent.
