O. F. Nelson Objects to “Black Maria” TRANSPORT TO PRISON By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, March 19. Olaf F. Nelson, who was sentenced recently to eight months’ imprison men t for activities iu connection with the Samoan Mau, arrived at Lyttelton by the Maui Pomare this morning under escort, and yvas taken to the Papariia Prison, where he "'ill remain pending the hearing of his appeal. When he found that the “Black Maria” was waiting for him, Nelson objected vehemently, demanding that l.e should be transported in a taxi. He even went to the length of hailing a taxi, but the police and prison regulations were alike adamant, and he was put into the “Black Maria” to make the journey to Paparua.
