Sir James Parr announces that New Zealand has ordered 12 Yickers V ildebeest torpedo bombeCs fitted with Pegasus engines, the first two to be shipped in June.
An announcement of the fact that the Government was ordering eight Vickers Vildebeest torpedo bombers was made about six weeks ago. The new machines, which will be the first of their kind' in New Zealand, will carry a standard _torpedo, and can cruise at 125 m.p.h. at uOOT feet. 'At 3000 feet, they can travel at 143 m.p.h., and they have a ceiling of 10.750 feet, and a cruising range of 630 miles .They will be stationed at AVigram and Hobsonville.
