Question of Players Going to Outside Teams PROTEST AT MASTERTON Dominion Special Service. Masterton. March 16. The question of Rugby players playing for teams outside their own districts was discussed at the annual meeting of the Masterton Football Club, it being finally resolved to send a remit to the annual meeting of the Rugby Union urging that owing to the prevalence in past vears of clubs enticing players resident iu districts other than their own to play for them, no player be eligible for a team outside the district in which he resides, until he has satisfied the union that he cannot get a game with any club in his own district. 9 MASTERTON CLUB Good Season Anticipated Indications for a most successful season were mentioned by Mr. W. G. Lamb, who presided at the annual- meeting of the Masterton Football Club. Provided the players trained hard, he said, he was sure that the various teams would do well. The United Football Club at its annual meeting this week decided to continue the scheme adopted last season, whereby members able to do so made a small weekly contribution toward the subscriptions of those members of the club who were unemployed. The Masterton-Opaki Rifle Club will continue its series of weekly trophy shoots ou the Fairview Range on Saturday afternoon, when it will fire a competition over the 300. 500. and 600 yards ranges. Life Membership. Mr. L. A. Wadliam. at. the annual meeting of the Masterton Football Club, was elected an honorary life member, in recognition of his'valued services to the club over a long period. Wairarapa Tennis Buttons. A challenge match for the Wairarapa Doubles Buttons was played at the Carterton Tennis Club's courts between Messrs. D.’C. Collins and W. G. Russell (challengers), Kahutara, and Messrs. L. D. Keedwell and W. A. Cumming (holders). of .Carterton. The mutch resulted in a win for the holders, 6-1, 4-6. 6-3. ANZAC DAY TEA Wanganui, March 16.
