TROTTING NOTES

Wanganui Meeting To-day REVIEW OF THE FORM

(By

“Overcheck.”)

The Wanganui Trotting Club is holding a meeting to-day, and this will be followed by another meeting on Saturday next. The fields are of nice size, with a number of horses about whom little is knowh. It is therefore possible that there may be some surprises, but public form is the only reliable basis of comparison. The card is as follows: — INNOVATION HANDICAP, ot £6O; 3.45 class,' One mile and a half. Diltest scr Silver Black .. ser Great Fast .. ser Supertax .... ser Goldspinner . ser Tecla scr Flintlock .... set Dick Manaaka .... ser Whittington ser Orleigh Mills . ser Tasman Flight 12 The three likely to receive most support in the Innovation Handicap are Flintlock, Great Fast and Tasman Flight. The first-named has placed, performances at 'Wellington to his credit, while Tasman Flight competed successfully among the unboppled trotters on the West Coast. Great Fast was third to Belinda King and Guy o’ Mine at Marlborough

in Februaary. Flintlock will no doubt be made favourite.

KIRKWOOD HANDICAP, of £65; unhoppled trotters; 3.50 class. One mile and a half. Black Native . scr Red Hula .... scr Bell Heather scr Victor Coronado scr Native Princess scr YWrackless .. ser Native Bird .... scr Earl Bingen .. 80 Native Game .. ser Arapal 84

Red Huia, Bell Heather and Earl Bingen are the likely favourites in the Kirkwood Handicap. The former was twice plu.eed at Clareville nt Christmas, and should have improved since then. Bell Heather and Earl Bingen have each shown useful form in the South Island in past seasons.

WANGANUI HANDICAP, of £125; 4.46 class. Two miles. Oro’s Pride ... scr Nelson’s Chum 36 Smoke Screen . scr Winshow .... 36 Bingen Chief .. 12 Smooger 48 Highland Derby 21 Worthy Light 43

The Wanganui Handicap bears an open appearance. Smoke Screen, who won over the distance at Westport in 4.41 2-5. reads best of those on scratch and 12yds. Highland Derby is not reliable, while Nelson’s Chum and Winsliow are rather elosp to Smooger and Worthy Light. The latter is classy and may be the actual favourite from Smoke Screen and Smooger.

EASTBROOK HANDICAP, of £7O; 3.41 class. One mile and a halt.

Anita Fame ... ser Electric Gold .. 24 Iron Man scr Le Chenault . 36 Tul Coronado ser Max Havoc .... 36 Aerial Boy ... 12 Vesta Ray .... 36

Anita Fame appears to be the natural favourite for the Eastbrook Handicap, aud her most serious rivals may prove to be Le Chenault and Max Havoc. The latter invariably races solidly and this is a great help. Le Chenault is a good sort, but has not had much racing of late.

AUTUMN HANDICAP, of £7O; 3.7 class. One mile and a quarter. Diltest ser Silver Black .. ser Florrie Real .. scr First Judge .. scr Goldspinner . ser Sherryzilla .. scr Great Fast ... ser Supertax scr Juggler scr Tasman Flight 12 Orleigh Mills . scr Liability .... 56

Great Fast, Supertax and Liability may be preferred in the Autumn Handicap, though some of the others may merit consideration as a result of the form they display in the opening event. PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP, of £75; uahoppled trotters; 5.0 class. Two miles. Earl Bingen .. scr Welcome Guy . 12 Native Game .. scr Summertime .. 21 Red Huia .... scr Guy o’ Mine . 24 Victor Coronado scr Amy Etawah .. 36 Wahnooka .... scr Finoro 84 Native Bird . scr Smooger 120 Arapal 12

"Wahnooka, Guy o Mine, and Welcome Guy may be in most demand in the President's Handicap. The first-named has a good record this season, but not so good as that of Guy o’ Mine, who is a» steady as a rock. On this account he is likely to be accorded most support.

FOSTER’S HANDICAP, of £7O; 3.0 class. One mile and a quarter. Anita Fame ... scr Arthur Chimes 24 Belinda King . scr Golden Oaks .. 24 Lislea scr Guymond .... 24

Lord Wrack .. scr Storm Queen .. 24 Max Havoc .... scr

Anita Fame, Lord 'Wrack and Max Havoc read well in the Foster's Handicap. though Guymond. is a possibility. Lot'd Wrack may be the favourite.

MORTON MEMORIAL HANDICAP, of £SO; 2.58 class. One mile and a quarter. Fleet Arrow .. scr Highland Derby '.’4 Oro's Pride ... scr Teri King! .... 36 Smoke Screen .. scr Winsliow 36 Donum ...... scr Bell o’ Mine .. 48 Daddy Longlegs 12 Oro's Pride, Smoke Screen and Donum should give a good account of themselves in the Morton Memorial Handicap. The two first-named may be accorded most support.
